You've checked the schools.  You've check out the test maker's websites.  You've even talked to other references.  Yet you are still wondering whether or not it actually can be done.  A 4-year Baccelareate of Science Degree in only 6 months?  You deserve to know if what I've been saying is really true or not.

Well ladies and gentlemen, here it is:

AAS Electromechanical Technology Excelsior College status report.

Author's Comments: As you can see, military and other credits transferred right in.  This only emphasizes that with prior military/corporate/regionally accredited college credits, it may cut down your actual time from enrollment to graduation!  Enrolled:  March 1, 2004.  Graduation date:  July 16, 2004.  Final GPA: 4.00.

BS General Business Excelsior College status report.

Author's Comments:  As you can see, military and other credits transferred right in.  This only emphasizes that with prior military/corporate/regionally accredited college credits, it may cut down your actual time from enrollment to graduation!  I actually could have graduated in August, but there was a delay in getting the Thomas Edison official transcript over to Excelsior.  And I missed the cutoff for conferral of the August, 2004 graduation.

That TECEP in Operations Mgmt was the only requirement I had left, which I took July 1, 2004 just 2 days before I was forward deployed to Sigonella, Sicily (Italy).  Enrolled:  July 17, 2004.  And I had a 3.5 GPA.  I was able to slide in 2 more "GPA-raiser" exams while on deployment.  Graduation Date:  September 17, 2004.  Final GPA: 3.68.

SMART Transcript Summary.
Page 1 | Page 2

Author's Comments:  The Sailor/Marine American Council on Education Registry Transcript, SMART contains all service schools taken while on active duty.  It also lists all CLEP, DSST, and ECE exams taken while on active duty.  Each military branch has some kind of central transcripting service like this (just different name).

You will see some credits that were not used.  Primarily because I got "C"s in them and didn't want them weighing down my GPA (remember, Excelsior assigns letter grades to most of the cleps/dssts).  Secondly because not all of them were appropriate for the major. Remember, you can have a 1,000 credits, but they must be appropriate to your major in order for them to transfer.  Again, you and your academic advisors must determine what is in your best interests based on your academic and career objectives.

Essentially the same article that was in the Jax Air News paper.  But I guess the news is slowly making its way around the fleet.  The article is on page 16.

Colorado Tech - Masters in Mgmt. Update
Current Unofficial Transcript

Some people were asking whether or not I was moving onto my Master's.  I indeed have enrolled and here is an unofficial transcript of my progress.  I have completed 3 out of the 10 total courses. So far, I've acheived a 4.00 average.  I hope to keep this up until the 10th class.  Wish me luck.

Think I'm the only one?

Not bad for a 22 year old while on active duty as an E-3.  These "proofs" are just to show you that it can be done!  If I knew what I knew now, and was a CIVILIAN, or was on shore duty (real, simple shore duty), with the help of instantcert and extreme due diligence in scheduling to taking each exam, I probably would have been able to complete my BS degree from scratch in about 4 months time or less.

Again I ask, are you beginning to see the big picture here?

This is not a race, but one of the founding principles of this website was that I can show others, such as yourself, how to complete their undergraduate studies in a greatly reduced time bracket and get in the fast[er] lane to your career or graduate studies.  Can anybody do this?  NO: credit-by-examination, portfolio assessment, distance learning classes, etc. are not appropriate for everyone.  I can say that is not based on race, sex, origin.  If you can understand and comprehend English (or foreign languages for the Spanish/French/German CLEP exams), can handle independent study, and possess strong motivation to succeed, you can do this....and very possibly graduate with honors!
Make sure you have read and agree to the terms and conditions of this site.
Have you completed your DL degree? We won't know unless you tell us! Share your story with us today.
